SAUDADE pays homage to a multi-ethnic environment celebrating nostalgia, a fleeting sensation captured through a visual journey. The atmosphere will be familiar, yet strange, the scenographies capture a story of a moment just passed or yet to come with each space waiting to be discovered while unlocking old memories and creating new ones - mirroring the alchemy of our relationship with personal spaces.
A designed reality that
aims to provoke a sense of nostalgia through a visual journey of collated pieces,
objets trouve, layers of colour, pattern and texture - the ’history’ of a life
as told through the spaces we call home. Stepping through the doors of the D3
studio, visitors will be transported into an imagined home that feels at once
familiar yet strange. Carefully curated scenographies tell the story of moments
just passed or yet to come, each one waiting to be discovered, unlocking old
memories and creating new ones - mirroring the alchemy of our relationship with
personal spaces. Every piece in the installation has been selected for its
craft, integrity and timelessness.
Original pieces by Gubi and &tradition
are sourced by 'ikonhouse' and combined with wall coverings and textiles by 'Dedar'. Rugs and antiques are sourced through ‘The Rug Company’ and ‘The Odd
Piece’, respectively. The Collectible artworks in various mediums are provided
and integrated into the storytelling by the design team at Styled Habitat.
(Note: Saudade is considered to be an emotive word, much like Hygge in Danish.
In this case it refers to a longing for something that is yet to happen, or a
nostalgia for a treasured moment in the past).
